Hearing Concerning Summerville Police Officer on Monday

A Court Hearing is set for today (Monday, October 2nd) into the request that has been made by the girlfriend of a Summerville, Georgia Police Officer for a protective order against that officer.  The officer’s girlfriend says Josiah Hemm attacked her during a domestic dispute last month.  The woman filed a report with Summerville Police, who turned the case over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Summerville Police Chief Harold Tucker stated that the GBI was investigating to avoid any conflict of interest; the woman claims Hemm was controlling, adding she was attempting to leave him, when he assaulted her.

The woman says that Hemm bit her on the shoulder during that attack – Chief Tucker says that Hemm was suspended from the Summerville Police Department on September the 11th.
