Rome Man Identified As Other Fatality in Friday Crash

On Friday at 2:00pm, the Georgia State Patrol was dispatched to an accident on Highway 27 at Scott Hill Road – in the Gore area of Chattooga County.  According to the officers, a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, being driven by David Lopez of Rome, came across the grass median and on into the northbound lanes of Highway 27 – striking a 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe, being driven by Lori McWhorter.  McWhorter was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lopez was transported to a hospital in Rome – where he ended up passing away due to his injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol, on Saturday afternoon, confirmed the identity of the driver of the Jeep – and we are still waiting for an updated accident report from the Georgia State Patrol.
