Lafayette High School Teacher Dies in Friday Wreck

Fatal Accident on Highway 27 Friday in Northwest, Georgia

A fatal crash occurring on Highway 27 in the Gore community of northwest, Georgia Friday – ended with fatalities.  The accident shut down traffic on Highway 27 that afternoon for an extended period of time. 

The Georgia State Patrol has confirmed there were fatalities as a result of the accident.  According to reports that accident took the life of Lori McWhorter, employed by LaFayette High School. 

The school issued a statement Friday evening saying, “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Lori McWhorter – who was a cherished member of our Walker County Schools and LaFayette High School community. Mrs. McWhorter was a revered teacher, a devoted mother, and a also a loving wife, whose sudden, and tragic loss, will leave an irreplaceable void in our community”. 

We’ll have more details on that accident, when they’re released by the Georgia State Patrol.
