Lady Warriors clinch right to host area volleyball tournament with wins over Ashville, Lincoln

ASHVILLE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors clinched the right to host the upcoming Class 4A, Area 11 volleyball tournament with a 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 25-17 win at Ashville on Tuesday.

The Lady Warriors also defeated Lincoln 25-14, 25-12 to improve to 20-11 on the season.

In the win over Ashville, Macy Lea compiled 33 assists, six digs, three kills and two aces. Raegan Garmany gained 11 kills, three blocks and two digs. Lilly Shaw managed three kills, four digs and two blocks. Ava Haygood had eight kills, eight digs and an ace. Libby Curry contributed four kills, five digs and two aces. Emilee Paul posted five digs and three aces. Ellisan Givens came away with 16 digs, four aces and three assists. Nevaeh Gaidurgis finished with 13 kills, 14 digs, two blocks, an ace and an assist.

In the win over Lincoln, Lea earned 10 assists, four aces and four digs. Haygood added four kills, five digs and an ace. Givens had eight digs and an ace. Gaidurgis gained three aces, two kills, four digs and a block. Paul had four aces and five digs. Shaw finished with four digs, two kills and a block.

Cherokee County takes on Sand Rock in the Cherokee County Tournament at Spring Garden on Saturday at 10 a.m.
