Sand Rock finishes runner-up to Spring Garden in Battle for Supreme Courts

GUNTERSVILLE — The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats went 4-2 Saturday in the Battle for Supreme Courts in Guntersville. They finished runner-up to Spring Garden.

In pool play, Sand Rock (23-12) defeated Woodville 25-12, 25-15 and Wellborn 25-12, 25-21 before losing in a third set to Athens 15-25, 25-19, 11-15. 

In the quarterfinals of the gold bracket, Sand Rock beat New Hope 26-24, 19-25, 15-6, then in the semifinals, defeated East Limestone 25-21, 25-1. Sand Rock then fell to Spring Garden 22-25, 14-25.

For the tournament, Katelyn St.Clair collected 63 kills, 45 digs, 12 aces and three blocks. Rylin St.Clair delivered 112 assists and 32 digs. Bethany Davis posted 32 kills, 47 digs, eight aces and four blocks. Chloe Stephens contributed 78 digs and five aces. Zoey Handy finished with 22 kills and 11 blocks.
