Friday Accident on Taylor’s Ridge in Northwest Georgia / UPDATE

An accident on Friday morning on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge snarled traffic after a vehicle crashed into the back of a log truck. 

According to information provided by the Georgia State Patrol, at 6:35 AM, troopers were dispatched to an accident on Highway 27 near Kirby Hollow Road involving a pickup truck and a logging truck. The Dodge pickup truck and the logging truck were traveling South on Highway 27 in the right lane when the Dodge struck the rear of the logging truck causing several logs to travel through the cab of the pickup.

The driver of the Dodge truck was transported to Atrium-Floyd Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his chest and head.

A vehicle inspection was conducted on the logging truck leading to it being placed out of service for mechanical issues. The Georgia State Patrol report noted that the driver of the logging truck operated the vehicle without a CDL License. The Southbound lanes in the area were shut down for three hours until both vehicles could be removed from the roadway.
