Plant Hammond Smokestack Demolition to Close Alabama Highway Saturday morning
Authorities will be closing down the Alabama Highway at Plant Hammond on Saturday morning (September 23rd) – in advance of the scheduled demolition of smokestacks at Georgia Power.
The river behind the facility will also be closed as well as Foster Mill Road at the Coosa River Bridge.
The highway closure will start at 7:45 that morning (September 23rd), and with favorable circumstances, should only last about 45 minutes.
Georgia Power cautions that times COULD change depending on work activity that requires more time.
Highway closures will occur at:
- Alabama Highway (Ga 20 westbound) at Huffaker Road
- Foster Mill Road (Ga 100 south) at Coosa River bridge
- Alabama Highway (Ga 20 eastbound) at Foster Mill Road (Ga 100 south)
