GADSDEN – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors split a volleyball tri-match at Southside with Albertville on Tuesday. They defeated Albertville 25-12, 26-28, 15-8, then lost to host Southside 23-25, 13-25.
In the win over Albertville, Macy Lea collected 16 assists, four digs, two aces and a block. Raegan Garmany posted six kills, a block and an assist. Ava Haygood delivered seven digs, five aces, three kills, a block and an assist. Ellisan Givens contributed 12 digs, two aces and an assist. Nevaeh Gaidurgis accumulated 12 kills, three blocks, two aces and two assists.
In the loss to Southside, Lea came away with 16 assists and five digs. Garmany contributed four kills, three blocks and two digs. Haygood had four kills and seven digs. Libby Curry managed four kills and two digs. Givens gained six digs, three assists and an ace. Gaidurgis finished with seven kills, five digs and a block.
Lea, a sophomore setter, surpassed 1,500 assists in the tri-match. Givens, a sophomore libero, recently set the school record for digs with 804, and Gaidurgis, a sophomore middle hitter, recently surpassed 500 kills.
