Calhoun County Sheriff Arrests Football Player Antonio Ross on Charges of Sexual Assault

An Alabama football player has been arrested on the charges of Sexual Assault.

A Calhoun County grand jury recently indicted Antonio Ross, on Second-Degree Sodomy.  Sheriff Matthew Wade stated that Ross was arrested at a residence in Weaver on Monday – and that he was booked into the Calhoun County Jail. 

He was released a short time later on $50,000 bond.  Details of the alleged crime have not yet been made public.

Weaver Police Lt. Andy Hunter says that the case was originally reported to and it was investigated by Anniston Police “who did an outstanding job gathering that information – and conducting interviews before it was discovered that the alleged crime took place in the jurisdiction of Weaver.”

The investigation involves a juvenile female victim; Hunter says that the victim was interviewed at the Calhoun County Children Advocacy Center.
