Warriors improve to 3-0 with shutout at Good Hope

CULLMAN – Jacob Cornejo continued to pile up the rushing yards on Friday in the Cherokee County Warriors’ Class 4A, Region 6 football opener at Good Hope.

Cornejo collected 195 yards on 20 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in the Warriors’ 35-0 victory.

Cornejo got Cherokee County (3-0, 1-0) on the board early in the first quarter on a 2-yard run. Ben Frampton’s extra point provided the Warriors a 7-0 advantage.

Quarterback Carson Tittle connected with Alex Johnson on a 53-yard score later in the quarter, putting the Warriors up 14-0 after one.

Cornejo scored his second touchdown in the second quarter – this one a 6-yard run – to increase the Warrior lead to 21-0 at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Warriors put the game away on touchdown runs by Carson Chesnut and Keyshawn Woods, from 1 and 10 yards respectively, for the final.

Cherokee County hosts Oneonta on Friday. Good Hope (1-2, 0-1) travels to Fairview.
