Former Walker County Deputy Found Guilty Of Incest

A former Walker County, Georgia Deputy and Chattooga County resident was recently found guilty of incest in Chattooga County Superior Court.

The judge in the case declared a mistrial in a portion of the criminal case against Stephen Zachary Williams – after the jury deliberated on other charges against Williams – which included rape, aggravated sodomy and sexual battery.  The crimes were believed to have been committed in Chattooga County. The jury unanimously voted to convict Williams on the charges of incest.  The GBI investigated the case against Williams at the request of Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Williams worked for the Walker County Sheriff’s Office from 2018 until the investigation began on incest and rape charges in 2021.  He can be re-tried on the other charges in Chattooga County Superior Court.
