Man Arrested For Drug Trafficking At a Rome Motel

A Rome resident has been arrested on drug trafficking charges, following the execution of a search warrant at a room at the La Quinta Inn on Chateau Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force Officers found 40-year-old Melvin Dewayne Ragland in possession of over four grams of fentanyl, along with suspected oxycodone, an unknown white power, and unknown blue pills.

Ragland also stands charged with the possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and six counts of contempt of superior court.
