Collinsville City Council Meeting

Mayor Johnny Traffenstedt  informed  the Council about the upcoming Labor Day Festivities which include a picnic and fireworks show. The event will be held at the Gressler Park at 139 McClain Street in Collinsville. There will be hotdogs, water, chips, and coke products for the public. A DJ will be in at 5:30 pm. Council member David Bowen sadi he met with the pyrotechnic company to be sure everything was set up and ready to go. Mayor Traffanstedt said he looks forward to having the community together again.

Fire Chief Bowen told the Council their tanker is still out of service due to parts not being available to repair it at this time.

Lara Roe a State Officer with Skills USA and  A Collinsville High School Student. Is going to Washington , D.C. as  one of six students in the state of Alabama to go for a pin at Skills USA. She asked for a donation for some her expenses and the City council passed a motion to give her a $500 check.

The Council recognized Officer Jeremy Pinegar for saving a one year old toddler’s life. The toddler was not breathing and Pinegar administered CPR and saved the toddler’s life. The 1st Division American Legion presented  Officer Pinegar a proclamation for his heroic deed. Also, Collinsville Police Chief Andy Brown presented him a plaque from the City of Collinsville.

The next City Council Meeting will be in two weeks.
