On Wednesday afternoon, Floyd County 9-1-1 received a phone call stating that smoke could be seen coming from a two story structure on Sherwood Road Southwest just off Shorter Avenue.
The Rome-Floyd Fire Department was dispatched to the area to find heavy smoke coming from the second story of the home. Firefighters responded and knocked back that fire quickly, with no damage to other structures.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The cause of that blaze is being investigated by members of the Rome-Floyd Fire Department.
