Overturned Dump Truck Shuts Down Highway 48 on Monday Afternoon

An overturned dump truck located at the Raccoon Creek Bridge construction site, Highway 48 in Georgia, between Summerville and Menlo closed down the road for a period of time on Monday afternoon. 

The Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome, Georgia (Floyd County) – released the following preliminary report:

“Monday, troopers from Post 38 in Rome responded to a single vehicle crash on Georgia 48, in Chattooga County.  A dump truck was traveling east on Georgia 48 when the vehicle left the road, and struck several crash attenuators – and a concrete retaining wall.    The dump truck traveled on top of that retaining wall, before it rolled onto the driver’s side.   The driver was checked on scene by EMS, but was not injured from the crash.”

Troopers say that the wreck remains under investigation.
