Chris A. Zeigler Dendy, M.S. , Her Life’s Work Lives On

Chris Ziegler Dendy, was a former educator, school psychologist, and mental health professional with more than 40 years of experience in the field of attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and executive function deficit. Chris and her late husband, Tommy, mentored countless mothers, fathers, teachers, teenagers and many others dealing with family members or students with these issues.

She was recognized nationally and internationally as an expert on ADD, ADHD and executive function deficit and earned degrees from the University of Georgia and Florida State University.

Chris was inducted into CHADD Hall of Fame for her outstanding contributions to the field in 2006 and received the CHADD Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. She is the author of Teenagers with ADD and ADHD: A Guide for Parents and Teaching Teens with ADD, ADHD, and Executive Function Deficits. Chris, along with her son Alex, created a popular DVD titled Real Life ADHD! A DVD Survival Guide for Children and Teens.

Chris Dendy was a tireless advocate for parents of children with ADD, ADHD and executive function deficit. She was a role model to many caregivers eager to learn how to help their children with ADHD thrive in school and at home. She helped reshape education by training teachers and parents to see students differently — not as failures, but as often-discouraged, young people with potential and students who flourished with the right support.

Her passion and her work will live on through the countless lives of those she touched.

Chris Dendy passed away unexpectedly on July 8th in Rome, Ga.

A Memorial Service for Chris will be Saturday, July 29th at the Perry Funeral Home in Centre. The family will receive friends from 10am until noon with the service in the Chapel of the funeral home.
