An argument between two neighbors in north Alabama left one man dead and another in jail over the weekend. At around 1:00 Saturday afternoon Scottsboro Police were called to a residence on the 300 block of Maple Avenue in reference to a shooting.
Officers quickly found a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the location. According to Detective Sgt. Ryan Putman – who is the police department’s public information officer, the man was transported to Highlands Medical Center, and later pronounced dead. Police have not yet released the man’s name.
An investigation by officials found that an argument had taken place between to the two – leading to the shooting of the victim.
Gerry Paul Kelly – age 62 – has now been charged with murder, according to Putman.
Kelly will be transferred to the Jackson County Jail.
Police are still investigating the shooting.
