250 Years Of Combined Volunteer Service Recognized
During the meeting of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad Monday evening, the Squad was recognized by the Governor and the State Legislature for its outstanding service to Cherokee County and the State of Alabama since its inception date in 1959.
State Representative Ginny Shaver made presentations to 5 Cherokee County Rescue Squad Members in recognition of 50 years or more of service in the Rescue Squad.
Those who were recognized were Carl Brown, Billy Joe Pruitt, Bobby Joe Smith, Billy Wayne McKinney, and Captain Danny Smith.
The Governor’s certificate of appreciation in Honor or their 50 plus years of service to the Cherokee County Rescue Squad as an EMT Intermediate Rescue Specialist was framed for each of them. The House of Representatives sent a Joint Resolution for each which was entered in the Legislative Record as official recognition by the State of Alabama for their outstanding service for 50 plus years. Each one also received a 50 year pin from Rescue Squad Captain Danny Smith.
Cherokee County Commissioner Ronnie Shaw was in attendance and assisted Representative Shaver in presenting the awards to each.
