Fort Payne Woman Charged with Capital Murder/Kidnapping

A Fort Payne woman has been arrested after authorities say she kidnapped a woman and then pushed her from a cliff – nearly two years ago.

Loretta Kay Carr, age 43, has been charged with capital murder-kidnapping.

According to jail records she was arrested on Sunday, and she is being held in the DeKalb County Jail without bond; according to court documents, Carr was charged with “intentionally causing” the October 2021 death of Mary Elizabeth Isbell by pushing her off of a cliff.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release any details
