Mrs. Sybil Lott

Mrs. Sybil Lott passed away peacefully at home June 20, 2023 at age 92. 

Mrs. Lott was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dorman Hillie Lott; and by her son Kenneth F. Lott.  Family members celebrating her life include sisters Amy Chester and Mildred Austin, daughter Julie Dingus (Andy), daughter Amy Hurley, granddaughters Layla Burden and Salley Dingus, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as niece Michelle Baker (Randy), nephew Jeff Chester (Rachael), and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lott was a member of St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia. She was a lifelong Sunday School teacher and bible scholar.  Many community humanitarian agencies felt the blessing of her volunteer efforts over the years. 

Trion, Georgia was her birthplace and that of her childhood years.  After meeting her future husband at Berry College where they both attended, she married Mr. Lott and followed him around the world as he pursued a military career.  After retirement, they settled in Centre, Alabama to be near her family.  Mrs. Lott resided in Watkinsville, Georgia for the last 10 years.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Perry Funeral Home in Centre, Alabama from 2:00 to 3:45 pm on Sunday, June 25 with a graveside service to follow at 4:00 pm in Cherokee Memory Gardens with Rev. Eugene Burgess officiating.

Pallbearers will include Andy Dingus, Jeff Chester, Randy Baker, Josh McGowan, Sean Peek, and Joe Nowak.

The family will accept flowers or contributions in honor of Mrs. Lott may be made to your favorite charity or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
