Deadly Shooting in Floyd County

An argument between two employees in the parking lot of the Kellogg’s facility located on the Old Lindale Road in Floyd County, Georgia ended with a deadly shooting Monday.

According to a Rome Police Department news release:

Officers responded to the scene at around 10:47pm after 29-year-old Dekembe Devion Smith called E-911 and he reported that he shot 26-year-old Keion Tyjuan Harper, also of Rome.

Officers attempted to render first aid to Harper before emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene.

Harper was later pronounced dead.

The Rome Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit responded and took control of the investigation.

Smith was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and the possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Police said the altercation had nothing to do with Kellogg’s and no other injuries were reported.

Saturday, a woman was arrested for shooting a man in the arm on Coosawattee Avenue.  Sunday evening, a man was arrested for shooting another man in the lower extremities on Tyler Street at Garden Lakes Boulevard.
