Northwest Georgia Man Killed in Auto Accident on Saturday

A Rome resident was killed on Saturday after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. 

Forty-three-year-old Jason Samuel Johnson was traveling on the Kingston Highway just after 9:00am Saturday when the accident happened.

The Coosa Valley News reported that Johnson may have had a medical emergency that contributed to the fatal accident.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, in the state of Georgia, troopers issued more than 10,200 citations, made more than 330 DUI arrests, and investigated nearly 400 crashes that resulted in over 240 injuries and 11 fatalities.
