Product Recall Alert – Frito Lay Classic Potato Chips

In my opinion, there is nothing better than opening a bag of chips during lunch or when friends and family are over, so naturally we went running to our pantry when we saw the FDA alert that hundreds of bags of Frito-Lay Classic Potato chips have been recalled that may have been on the shelf since April 16th, 2023. Lay’s Classic Potato Chips are part of a voluntary recall of a limited number of 146 bags that are either 13 oz. or 15 5/8 oz. These bags of chips may contain undeclared milk ingredients from sour cream and onion potato chips. According to the report, individuals that have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume product contained inside the recalled bags. So far no allergic reactions related to this matter have been reported to date.

If consumers have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, they are encouraged not to consume the product and discard it immediately. Frito-Lay has informed the FDA of this action. Consumers with the product described below can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday) or by email FLNAFrito-LayMediaServices@pepsico.com  All details were obtained by the latest update on the FDA announced Frito-Lay Allergy Alert.

The recall is the result of an investigation following a consumer complaint. The Lay’s Classic Chips were distributed to grocery, club and convenience stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and consumers would have been able to purchase them as early as April 16, 2023.

To identify potentially affected products check for Lay’s Classic Party Size Potato Chips with a UPC of 028400310413 or Lay’s Classic Mix and Match Potato Chips with UPC 0028400720151 and Guaranteed  fresh dates of July 18th 2023 along with Manufacturing codes 105 04:55 to 105 05:02.
