Cothran finishes second in Class 4A-5A girls individual state golf tournament

OPELIKA – Cherokee County High School’s Ellie Cothran finished runner-up to Trinity’s Virginia Anne Holmes in the Class 4A-5A girls individual state golf tournament at Opelika’s Grand National course on Tuesday.

Cothran collected two rounds of 75 to finish 11 strokes behind Holmes, who holed rounds of 69 and 70. Oneonta’s Savannah Sandlin finished third after rounds of 78 and 80. Northside’s Ashlee Allen (83, 76) and Beauregard’s Kylee Lynn (77, 83) rounded out the top five.

A total of 18 golfers competed in the 4A-5A girls individual event.
