Cherokee County High’s Cothran in 2nd place at Class 4A-5A girls individual state golf tournament

OPELIKA – Cherokee County High School’s Ellie Cothran fired a 3-over 75 and is currently in second place in the Class 4A-5A girls individual state golf tournament on Monday. The state tournament is being held at Grand National course in Opelika.

Trinity’s Virginia Anne Holmes tops the field at 3-under 69. Beauregard’s Kylee Lynn is in third at five-over 77, followed by Oneonta’s Savannah Sandlin at 6-over 78. Mars Hill Bible’s Esther Alexander is fifth at 8-over 80.

Eighteen girl golfers are in the individual 4A-5A girls field. The final round begins Tuesday morning.

In Class 1A-3A girls team standings, the Piedmont Lady Bulldogs are fourth after a total score of plus-127. Tuscaloosa Academy leads the field at plus-8, followed by Houston Academy (plus-68) and Houston Academy (plus-72).
