Sand Rock splits in East Softball Regional

ALBERTVILLE – Class 2A, No. 3 Sand Rock split on Tuesday in the East Softball Regional at Albertville’s Sand Mountain Park. The Lady Wildcats blanked Woodland 10-0, but dropped a tough 5-3 decision against Pisgah.

Sand Rock will take on Ider in the losers bracket on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

In the win over Woodland, Jadyn Foster tossed a two-hit shutout in six innings with three walks and 12 strikeouts. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, three runs and three RBIs.

Sherina Foster went 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs and a RBI. Katelyn StClair contributed a hit and a RBI. Emma Sipsy was 1-for-2 with a run.

Peyton Johnson walked twice, scored a run and drove in one. Lacey Barnette walked, scored a run and drove in one. Bailey Kilgore walked twice and Zoey Handy scored a run.

In the loss to Pisgah, the Lady Wildcats built a 3-0 lead but the Lady Eagles battled back for two runs in the fourth and three more in the seventh to take the win.

Barnette and Briley Knight both delivered a pair of hits for Sand Rock. Sipsy tripled, scored a run and drove in two. Jadyn Foster collected a hit, two walks and a run. Johnson contributed a hit and a RBI. Sherina Foster added a hit and a run.

Aliyah King walked twice and StClair walked once.

Jadyn Foster suffered the tough-luck loss after working all seven innings. She scattered three earned runs on seven hits with a walk and 14 strikeouts.
