Sand Rock secures spot in area softball title game, East Regional berth

SAND ROCK – Jadyn Foster allowed just one hit and fanned 10 batters in four innings of work. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with a two-run home run, a walk and three RBIs in leading the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 14-0 victory over Collinsville in Class 2A, Area 11 softball tournament action on Tuesday.

The win secured a spot in Thursday’s area championship game and a berth in next week’s East Regional in Albertville.

Katelyn StClair also had three hits, including a pair of triples. She scored three runs and drove in another. Aliyah King contributed three hits, three runs and three RBIs. Lacey Barnette added a triple, a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs. Sherina Foster also had a pair of hits and scored three runs. Bailey Kilgore contributed a hit, a walk and a two RBIs. Madelyn Clanton scored a run.

Sophia Wills and Rylee Tillery accounted for the two Lady Panther hits. Tillery doubled in the fifth.

Sand Rock awaits the winner of Thursday’s 4 p.m. losers bracket game between Collinsville and Fyffe at 5:30 p.m. Fyffe eliminated Gaston with a 15-5 win in five innings in other tournament action on Tuesday.
