No Skeletal Remains Found – Caller Admits To Embellishing Report

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said on Tuesday morning that the search for supposed skeletal remains along the banks of the Chattooga River has been suspended.  The sheriff issued a press release saying that the report came from a complainant who had found animal bones in the area and that the complainant admitted to embellishing his report to law enforcement.

The sheriff said that the complainant, whose name has not been released, embellished the details to “get a quicker response” from law enforcement.  You can see the sheriff’s statement below:

The search for reported skeletal remains near the river in Trion has been suspended. After a late evening re-interview with the complainant, it was found that the complainant embellished the report of his findings to include details that were not true. Animal bones were found in an area described by the complainant.

The complainant stated that he embellished the details to get a quicker response from law enforcement. Law enforcement has been in contact with the complainants parents and care giver about the report.

If further information becomes available it will be released
