PIEDMONT – Carson Young tossed a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Piedmont Lady Bulldogs to a 10-0 victory over Saks in the Class 3A, Area 10 softball tournament on Monday.
Emma Grace Todd went 2-for-2 at the plate with a run and a RBI for the Lady Bulldogs. Jenna Calvert delivered a two-run doubled and scored a run. Armoni Perry also doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Savannah Smith had a hit, two runs and two RBIs.
Sarah Goss and Cacey Brothers both had a hit and scored a run. Amarae Champion scored twice. Cayla Brothers scored a run.
Piedmont advances to Tuesday’s 4 p.m. winners bracket game, where it will face Wellborn. Wellborn defeated Weaver 7-5 in other first-round tournament action Monday.
