Todd’s no-hitter highlights Piedmont’s 3-0 day in Hokes Bluff Softball Tournament

CENTRE – Emma Grace Todd tossed a no-hitter Saturday in Piedmont’s 3-0 softball victory over Southside in the Hokes Bluff Softball Tournament at the Centre Softball Complex on Saturday.

Todd finished with three strikeouts in the game. The no-hitter highlighted a 3-0 day for the Lady Bulldogs. They also defeated Munford 5-3 and Oak Mountain 4-2.

In the win over Southside, Armoni Perry doubled. Savannah Smith and Carson Young both had a hit and a RBI. Sarah Goss went 1-for-3 with a run. Jaycee Glover and Jenna Calvert both finished with a hit. Cacey Brothers drove in a run. Morgan Studdard and Abby Baird both scored a run.

In the win over Munford, Cacey Brothers went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Calvert was also 2-for-3 with a double. Glover tallied a hit and drove in three runs. Young had a hit and two RBIs. Smith also contributed a hit. Cayla Brothers, Cadence Buttram and Rylie Ann Holbrooks each scored a run.

Young picked up the win in the circle after working 5 2/3 innings. She gave up three earned runs on four hits with two walks and a strikeout. Smith earned the save after working 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

In the win over Oak Mountain, Goss went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and a RBI. Cacey Brothers was also 2-for-3 with a RBI. Cayla Brothers went 2-for-2 with a run.

Smith homered and Glover doubled and scored a run. Young contributed a hit and a RBI. Calvert and Baird both finished with a hit.

Smith earned the win in the circle after working five innings. She gave up two earned runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Piedmont hosts the Class 3A, Area 10 tournament beginning on Monday. The Lady Bulldogs open against Saks at 4 p.m.
