Citizen Group Meets with County Commission Regarding Indian Mountain ATV Park

Citizens Group Asks For Help With Community “Nuisance”

A group of more than 20 county citizens from the County Roads 8, 185, 45 and 126 community in eastern Cherokee County addressed the Cherokee County Commission during the planning session Monday afternoon.  The group asked the county for help with excessive traffic, noise during all hours of the night, and roadway and creek pollution coming from the operation of the Indian Mountain ATV Park.  The group said the situation from Thursday through Sunday, day and night, has become unbearable.

The group also asked for specific upgrades to the roads for safety:

Commissioners told the group they are hearing the issues and have plans to address them. A resolution to limit vehicles on certain roads to 3 axles only with certain limitations for local farm traffic and equipment is being considered. The commission is conferring with legal counsel for other actions that can be taken to make the area safer for everyone in the area.

The group vowed to be back before the commission once a month until action is taken.
