Spring Garden goes 2-2 in Albertville Softball Tournament

ALBERTVILLE – Class 1A, No. 10 Spring Garden went 2-2 in the Albertville Softball Tournament over the weekend. They defeated Pelham 15-7 and Pisgah 8-3. The Lady Panther lost to Hokes Bluff 9-5 and Ider 16-6.

In a 15-7 win over Pelham on Friday, Kayley Kirk led the Lady Panthers at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a walk, two runs and five RBIs. Helena Ingram went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs. Lilly McCain was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs.

Layla Ingram went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Madi Ham was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Avery Steward went 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs. Maggie Jarrett doubled and had two RBIs.

Maggie Reedy had a hit and a run. Addie Word scored twice.

Steward picked up the win in relief of McCain. She tossed 1 2/3 innings of one-hit ball with a walk and allowed no runs.

In their 9-5 loss to Hoked Bluff, Layla Ingram went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Law was also 2-for-3 with a run. Kirk tripled with a run and a RBI. Jarrett doubled. Reedy had a hit, a walk and a run. Steward added a hit and a run. Madi Ham finished with a hit and a RBI. Word drove in a run.

Steward suffered the loss.

The Lady Panthers also split on Saturday. In their 16-6 loss to Ider, Helena Ingram and McCain both went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. McCain’s hit was a double. Kirk contributed a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Madi Ham had a hit and scored two runs. Steward added a hit and a RBI.

Layla Ingram and Reedy both walked and scored a run. Olivia Law also scored a run.

Rylie Ham suffered the loss.

In their 8-3 win over Pisgah, Layla Ingram went 3-for-5 with two runs and a RBI. Steward was 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and a RBI. Helena Ingram went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Reedy was 2-for-3 with a run.

Kirk tripled, walked twice, scored a run and had a RBI. Madi Ham added a hit with two RBIs.

McCain had a hit and a walk. Law walked and scored a run. Maggie Jarrett earned a walk.

Steward earned the win after working five innings. She scattered seven hits, four walks and three strikeouts without allowing an earned run.
