Warrior soccer teams clinch playoff berths with wins over Etowah

CENTRE – The Cherokee County High School soccer teams both clinched state playoff berths with area wins over Etowah on Monday.

The Lady Warriors earned a 3-2 victory for their first ever playoff berth. The Warrior boys won the nightcap 2-1 for their first playoff appearance since 2004.

In the girls match, Angeline Welsh, Emalee Morrison and Jaycee Waters scored goals for the Lady Warriors. Kelvin Bueso and Yefry Mejia scored goals for the Warrior guys. Bueso’s goal was on a penalty kick.

The first round of the state playoffs be May 1-2. The Warriors will both be on the road at an as-yet-determined opponent.
