Local Emergency Service Leaders Attend Officer Development Symposium

A local delegation of leaders from first responder agencies around Cherokee County recently attended an Officer Development Symposium in Jacksonville, Al.

The symposium was a rare opportunity for local emergency service leaders to hear from some of the country’s top leadership experts. The sixteen-hour class provided attendees with valuable leadership training that prepares them to provide sound leadership through all types of situations, from everyday personnel issues to the most complex of incidents.

Those attending included: Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee; Cherokee County EMA Director Shawn Rogers; and McCord’s Assistant Chief Barry Rogers, Jr., Secretary Zach Deaton, Treasurer Karen Bobo, & Chief Rich Lindsey.

The event was hosted by Jacksonville Fire Department in cooperation with the Alabama Fire College. Cherokee County Fire Association President Butch Jacobs said, “These individuals are to be commended for voluntarily seeking training that will enhance their ability to lead their organizations and ultimately improve the overall performance of those organizations.” He also stated his appreciation to Jacksonville Fire Department for hosting the event and inviting first responders from across the state to attend.
