The Workshop Session:

The Council Meeting:

The Cedar Bluff Town Council met Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting. Among the usual business handled, the council discussed the subject of the proposed athletic field house at Cedar Bluff High School. The council went over the minutes from the previous meeting to review the motions regarding the proposal from Principal McDaniels of Cedar Bluff High School. A motion to amend the minutes, clearing up the language, was put forward by Angela Ritchie and was seconded by Jack Bond.

When the mayor asked for the police department report, Chief Brody Moses approached, stood in front of the council, and directly addressed the audience. He spoke loudly and with haste, protesting “Well since no one in the public is being allowed to speak, im just going to say it”, the mayor insisted the chief stop immediately and relay the police report alone, but the Chief continued to address the audience “I am being micro-managed and I’m not being allowed to run this police department the way it needs to be run…” The mayor regained control of the meeting, insisting again that the chief relay the police report and nothing else. After doing so, the Chief returned to the audience, some of the audience applauded.

After the meeting a group of residents from the audience gathered in the park outside the council chamber along with Chief Moses to hear the Chief out.

WEIS Radio will be reaching out to the chief to get his statement on the situation.

The next meeting of the Cedar Bluff Town Council will be Monday May 8th.
