Piedmont softball edges St. Clair County 6-5

PIEDMONT – Cayla Brothers went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and a RBI to lead the Piedmont Lady Bulldogs to a 6-5 softball win over St. Clair County on Tuesday.

Cacey Brothers went 2-for-3 at the plate for Piedmont. Jenna Calvert and Savannah Smith were both 1-for-4 with a run. Calvert collected two RBIs and Smith drove in a run. Abby Baird added a hit. Jaycee Glover scored twice and Ava Pope scored once.

Piedmont rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom half of the fifth, two more in the sixth and one in the seventh for the final.

Emma Grace Todd earned the win after working an inning of relief for Carson Young. Todd gave up an earned run on a hit with no walks and a strikeout. Young tossed the previous six innings, giving up two earned runs on nine hits with a walk and no strikeouts.
