Cherokee County wins back-and-forth softball battle with Southside 7-5

GADSDEN – Grayson Tucker and Anna Walker both went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 7-5 softball win at Southside in Gadsden on Monday.

Macy Lea also added a pair of hits for the Lady Warriors. She also walked and drove in a run. Bristol Bass doubled, walked and drove in two runs. Audrey Haygood had a hit and scored a run. Raechel Russell and Abby Lea both contributed a hit. Samantha Stubbs scored two runs.

Emma Hill earned the win after tossing two innings of two-hit ball with no walks and two strikeouts. Abby Lea pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs on seven hits with no walks and a strikeout.

The two teams battled to a 4-4 tie through five innings. Southside scored a run in bottom of the sixth to take a 5-4 advantage, but the Lady Warriors struck for three in the top of the seventh for the final.
