Threats After Accident Lead to Arrest

A sixty-nine-year-old man was arrested last week – after being caught on video using foul language around children on a school bus.  According to the report released last Tuesday by the Chattooga County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office, that incident had followed a minor accident at Sunset Drive and Cooper Heights, with a Chattooga County School bus on Thursday of last week.

The bus had backed into a vehicle being driven by the suspect, and while the suspect was speaking with the school bus driver he began to curse, with children present.  The bus driver also stated the suspect threatened to use a gun – telling the bus driver “You better be bullet proof” – which was confirmed in the recording.

At that point the man in the car was taken into custody.

Edwin Lee Raughton was placed under arrest, and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct.
