Shooting Investigation in Rome, Georgia Wednesday Morning / UPDATE – Names Released

UPDATE:

Authorities have released the names of two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide Wednesday morning at the Chick-fil-a drive-thru on Shorter Avenue.

According to the Rome News-Tribune:

Deputy Coroner Chris Giles says Cassie Davis, who just turned 39, was shot three times with a revolver. Giles identified the assailant as Anthony Wayne Green, 56. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and families have been notified, Giles said. The couple had a prior relationship, he added.

According to Rome Police:

At around 7 a.m., officers were dispatched to a reported car accident with injuries near the Restaurant on Shorter Avenue. Prior to arrival officers received more information that the incident was a shooting rather than an accident.

An initial investigation indicates that a man shot a woman and then shot himself.

Police noted the incident was not related to Chick-fil-a, but rather occurred on the property of the restaurant.

The westbound lanes of Shorter Avenue were blocked for a while this morning and traffic was diverted through the Hobby Lobby parking lot.
