Seven-run first inning propels Cedar Bluff softball past Gaylesville, 15-5

CEDAR BLUFF – Natalie Baty went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, a walk and scored three runs in leading the Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers to a 15-5 area softball win over Gaylesville in six innings on Monday.

Baty also earned the win in the circle for the Class 1A, No. 4 Lady Tigers (10-12). She tossed four innings and gave up four earned runs on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Cedar Bluff scored seven runs in the bottom of the first to set the tone in the game. Mattie Payne posted a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate with a double, three runs and a RBI. Kylie Vadon went 3-for-4 with a pair of triples and a double and scored three runs.

Reece Patterson posted a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs and three RBIs. She also tossed two innings of one-hit ball with a walk and four strikeouts.

Rylie Walker tripled and drove in a pair of runs. Ciana Smith and Za’Niya Kyle both contributed a hit and drove in a run apiece. Smith also scored a run.

Alyssa Calvert went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for the Lady Trojans. Sydney Smith was also 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.

Sierra Holbrook doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Shonda Epps had a hit and scored a run. Jayden Dobbins and Emma Givens both contributed a hit and a walk.

The two teams play each other again on Tuesday at Gaylesville at 4:30 p.m.
