Gaylesville SRO John Sentell Named as ATCU Community Hero of the Quarter

Gaylesville School SRO John Sentell, ATCU Community Hero of the Quarter.

During challenging times, or even in day to day life, ordinary people are stepping up in extraordinary ways to give back to the places they call home. ATCU knows we’re at our best when we #givetogether and we’re proud to share efforts that strengthen and uplift the communities so important to our mission.

Our Community Hero award was created to shed light on all the positive things happening right now in Northeast Alabama. In addition to these highlights, Alabama Teachers also gifts our recipients in recognition of their heroic efforts.

In partnership with WEIS Radio, our Community Hero for the Cherokee County area for the 1st Quarter is John Sentell. Sentell has served as the School Resource Officer at Gaylesville School for three years. When asked what the most rewarding part of his job is, Officer Sentell replied, “The most rewarding part of my job as a School Resource Officer is being able to interact with the students and try to be the most positive influence that I can be. All of the students are unique, and they all face different challenges. It’s rewarding when they feel like they can trust me enough to tell me about whatever problem they are facing, and I can help them through that problem no matter how big or small.”

Congratulations and thank you, Officer Sentell, for your dedication to the Cherokee County Community. You service is greatly appreciated!
