Members of the Centre, Leesburg, and Sand Rock Fire Departments were called back out Saturday morning (April 1st) shortly before 10:00 in regard to a silo fire which had restarted.
Firefighters had first arrived at East Farms, located on County Road 5 in Cherokee County Wednesday evening, as members from the Centre, Leesburg, Tucker’s Chapel and Sand Rock departments all arrived to bring the blaze under control, shortly after 7:00pm.
We spoke with owner John Bert East around 11:00 on Thursday morning and he said that the fire appeared to have been electrical in nature.
East also had great praise for all the firefighters who showed up to help with the first fire and the subsequent restarts.
Fortunately, we have no reports of anyone being hurt.
