Centre cuts the ribbon on new Pickleball Courts

On Wednesday morning the Centre City council met with excited members of the public to officially cut the ribbon on the opening of the new Pickleball courts located at Centre City Park.

WEIS Radio was on the scene and got some time to speak with Mayor Mansfield about his thoughts on the new feature at the park:

“You know, its been a long, long project, frustrating with the soil issues and this and that, but the finished project turned out beautiful and is something the whole community can be proud of I hope.”

The new pickleball courts are now officially open and ready to be enjoyed. The new addition to Centre City Park includes 6 individual pickle ball courts in pristine navy blue on a tennis green base.

The courts were already unofficially open for use leading up to the ribbon cutting. Joy Perry said she had already seen the courts being put to good use.

“I think they add a lot to the Centre and Cherokee County, and Im like Mark, I was driving through town one Sunday afternoon and I saw all the cars and I thought, ‘Oh My God, what is going on at the city park?!?’ and I drove over here, and these courts were FULL! People love them.”

Go grab a racket and bring your friends and family to the new pickleball courts in Centre!
