GAYLESVILLE – Cam Welsh tossed a no-hitter for Spring Garden in game two of their area baseball series at Gaylesville on Thursday. He allowed only a walk with 14 strikeouts. Welsh also helped himself at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two walks, four runs and two RBIs in the Panthers’ 11-0 victory to win the series.
The Trojans won the second game on Thursday by the final of 6-3.
In Thursday’s first game, Zane Edwards accounted for three hits, a run and four RBIs for the Panthers (5-3). Jake Welsh added a pair of hits, including a double, with a RBI. Chapel Pope posted a double and scored a run. John Welsh added a hit, two runs and a RBI. Clayton Sadler finished with a hit and a pair of walks.
In the nightcap, Sadler belted a pair of doubles and had a run and a RBI. Hayes Garmon also had two hits, including a double, with a RBI. Joel Hunter also accounted for two hits and a run. Grey Simpson and Hunter Parris both posted a hit. Simpson also had a RBI. Edwards drew a walk.
Garmon suffered the loss after working 3 1/3 innings. He gave up two earned runs on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
