Domestic Dispute Leads to ‘Kidnapping’ and Arrest in Rome

A 34-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he apprehended a child following a domestic dispute in Rome.

According to Rome Police, they responded to a domestic incident at around 10:00am and learned that  Jackie Blaine Tucker had been at the location and took a 2-year-old child without the permission of the child’s mother.  Tucker is the father of the child – but had no legal authority to take custody of the child.

After a brief investigation, the child abduction response team was activated, and an AMBER alert was issued. The suspect was tracked via his cell phone and multiple agencies surrounded the area.  A captain with the Rome Police Department’s Hostage Negotiation Team was able to make contact with Tucker who agreed to surrender himself and turn the child over to officers.  At 12:48 PM, that surrender did take place and the child was recovered unharmed. The recovery was at a location near Sam Harris Road.

Tucker has been charged with Kidnapping, cruelty to a child, obstruction of a 911 call, and battery under the Family Violence Act.
