The Cedar Bluff town council met Monday night for their bi-monthly meeting. Among the usual business, there was a presentation by Cedar Bluff School’s principal about his plan to build a new 6000 square foot ‘Field House’ for Cedar Bluff’s sports programs. The Facility would house both the Junior Varsity locker room and the Varsity locker room, the weight room, an equipment and wash area, as well as 2 offices and a meeting room.
Principal McDaniel was presenting to the council a request of community support for the project. He was asking the council for 30,000 dollars to match the 70,000 dollars that Cedar Bluff School had already raised to get the project rolling. Principal McDaniel explained that with such a big school district, its not always easy to get your hands on the board’s coinpurse.
In the end the council did approve a motion to provide financial support for the project contingent on the school board approving and funding the project. Principal McDaniel plans to speak with the superintendent by the end of this week to get things moving.
