Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade says a Norfolk Southern train derailed around 7:00am Thursday in Calhoun County. The train, which consisted of approximately 30 cars, derailed in a wooded area near Iron City Motor Way and Angel Road.
The Quad Cities Fire Department stated there is no danger to the public – and that no hazardous materials were released as a result of the incident.
The Calhoun County (EMA) Emergency Management Agency has stated that there are no injuries and no road blockages.
Norfolk Southern has a cleanup crew on site but there is no estimation as to how long the process will take.
