Sand Rock finishes runner-up in Glencoe softball tournament

GLENCOE – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats finished runner-up in the Glencoe softball tournament on Saturday. They defeated Alexandria twice (7-0 and 7-2, both in five innings) and lost to Wetumpka twice (6-3 in four innings and 1-0 in the championship game).

In the first win over Alexandria, Katelyn StClair led the Lady Wildcats (5-2) at the plate by going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Jadyn Foster went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, a run and three RBIs. Bailey Kilgore was 2-for-2 with a run and a RBI. Briley Knight went 2-for-3 with a run. Sherina Foster doubled. Emma Sipsy finished with a hit and scored a run.

Jadyn Foster earned the win after pitching three innings of two-hit ball and allowed no runs. She finished with seven strikeouts. EllaGrace Hood tossed 1 2/3 innings, allowing a hit and a walk with four strikeouts.

In the second win over Alexandria, Hood was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Jadyn Foster doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. StClair contributed a hit, a run and two RBIs. Knight and Aliyah King both collected a hit and a run. Kilgore and Barnette both had a hit. Sipsy walked and scored a run. Zoey Handy scored a run and Sherina Foster walked.

Jadyn Foster earned the win after working all five innings. She surrendered an earned run on four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts.

In the first loss to Wetumpka, Hood went 2-for-2 with a RBI. Jadyn Foster was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs. StClair went 1-for-2 with a run. Sherina Foster and Lacey Barnette both had a hit and Sipsy scored a run.

Sipsy suffered the loss after working two innings. She gave up five earned run on five hits with two walks and a strikeout.

In the championship game against Wetumpka, StClair had the lone hit for the Lady Wildcats. Sherina Foster drew a walk.

Hood suffered the loss after working 4 2/3 innings. She gave up just one earned run on five hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
