Sand Rock picks up a pair of softball wins in Glencoe tournament

GLENCOE – Sand Rock picked up a pair of softball wins in a tournament at Glencoe on Friday. The Lady Wildcats rallied for four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take an 8-4 win over Cedar Bluff. They also blanked Fort Payne 4-0 in four innings.

Against Cedar Bluff, EllaGrace Hood went 2-for-2 with a home run, two walks, two runs and two RBIs. Hood also earned the win in the circle for the Lady Wildcats (3-0). She tossed four innings of three-hit ball with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Katelyn StClair and Jadyn Foster both doubled and scored a run. Foster drove in three runs. Emma Sipsy had a hit and scored a run. Briley Knight drove in a run. Aliyah King walked and scored a run. Sherina Foster and Zoey Handy both scored a run.

Ciana Smith had a pair of hits for the Lady Tigers, including a triple. She also scored a run and drove in another. Rylie Walker also had a pair of hits and scored a run. Harlie Nelson had a hit and scored a run. Reece Patterson posted a hit and a walk. Natalie Baty added a hit and Mattie Payne walked. Blakelea Hall drove in a run.

Patterson suffered the loss after working all eight innings. She surrendered three earned runs on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

In Sand Rock’s win over Fort Payne, Jadyn Foster doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Sherina Foster collected a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Hood had a hit and scored a run. King contributed a hit and drove in a run. StClair and Lacey Barnette both finished with a hit. Sipsy walked and scored a run.

Hood again picked up the win after tossing three innings of three-hit ball with a walk and five strikeouts.

Tournament play continues on Saturday.
