Leesburg Woman Fatally Injured in Thursday’s Highway 278 Wreck / UPDATED

A two-vehicle crash around 2:45pm Thursday, February 16th has claimed the life of a Leesburg woman.

According to Senior Trooper Justin O’Neal – Jordan Parris, age 25, was fatally injured when the 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe she was driving collided head-on with a 2018 Mazda CX-5 driven by Eisley Pope, 19, of Rockmart, Georgia. Parris was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near the 170 mile marker – 12 miles east of Piedmont in Cleburne County. Pope was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
